Change the Trim on Recessed Lighting for a Cheap Upgrade

Have you ever looked up at your ceiling and said to yourself, “Man, I need to update the trim on my recessed lighting.” Well, now you’re in luck, swapping out the trim is as easy as 1-2-3.

Recessed lighting designs have changed since the 80s and 90s and it’s likely that your current trim can be easily swapped out .

Start by turning off the breaker and the light switch and removing the bulb. Then remove the socket which is often held in place with a wingnut. Once the socket is removed you can pull out the trim.

Look for a manufacturer and model name in metal housing. This can help out when you’re looking for replacement trim. If you can’t find the model number, bring your old trim and try to match it up to something you like.

About Things That Make You Go Vroom

Welcome to Things That Make You Go Vroom — a blog dedicated to Automotive Enthusiasm, Love of Food and Home Decor. My name is Frank and I have teamed up with my best friend Charlie to bring a blog that is close to our hearts. Cars, Food and Home Decor. Now you might be thinking how lame this is, two grown men talking about guy stuff. But rest assured, that this blog will be far from lame. Our goal is to educate and entertain. We will be bringing car buying tips, car reviews ranging from affordable sports cars to my favorite, minivans. We will also be talking about food, from enjoying your veggies to marinating meats. And last but not least, home decor. Yes! Two grown men, talking about interior design. Hope you guys enjoy what we bring to the interwebs. Frank & Charlie.
