Food Substitutes for Just About Any Ingredient

If you’re pantry is anything like mine, you won’t always have every ingredient you need. RecipeTips helps you avoid a trip to the store with a giant table of almost every common food item and its best substitute.

Knowing some handy substitutes can let you try recipes you otherwise wouldn’t. For example, if a recipe calls for coconut milk, you can usually substitute it with whole milk or a mixture of cream of coconut and water. But if you didn’t know that, you’d just skip that delicious Coconut Lime Rice recipe and cook something else for dinner.

Apart from covering common ingredients, RecipeTips has also come up with a table for healthy substitutions, like low-fat yogurt instead of Whipped Cream or turkey frankfurters instead of hot dogs.

To figure out your own alternatives, check out their guide to ingredient functions. It’ll help you understand what one of the common food items does, so you can make substitutions accordingly.

About Things That Make You Go Vroom

Welcome to Things That Make You Go Vroom — a blog dedicated to Automotive Enthusiasm, Love of Food and Home Decor. My name is Frank and I have teamed up with my best friend Charlie to bring a blog that is close to our hearts. Cars, Food and Home Decor. Now you might be thinking how lame this is, two grown men talking about guy stuff. But rest assured, that this blog will be far from lame. Our goal is to educate and entertain. We will be bringing car buying tips, car reviews ranging from affordable sports cars to my favorite, minivans. We will also be talking about food, from enjoying your veggies to marinating meats. And last but not least, home decor. Yes! Two grown men, talking about interior design. Hope you guys enjoy what we bring to the interwebs. Frank & Charlie.
